Job summary

Fitchburg State University in Fitchburg, MA is seeking student help for the Capital Planning and Maintenance Department. This is a part-time, non-benefited position with an hourly rate of $15.00, designed for enrolled students.

You will assist with event setups, furniture transport, and routine maintenance tasks across campus, following floor plans and safety guidelines. Flexible schedule based on class times and campus events.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled as a Fitchburg State student in good academic standing.
• Ability to lift, push, pull, and move up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods.
• Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license and maintain a good driving record.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or with a team.
• Ability to follow written diagrams, floor plans, and verbal directions.

Responsibilities

• Be familiar with Event Management Systems (EMS) to check reservation setups.
• Follow floor plans and diagrams to set up and take down tables, chairs, staging, podiums, and trash/recycling bins for campus events and meetings.
• Reset rooms to standard layouts following functions and check event spaces beforehand to ensure cleanliness and proper configuration.
• Assist CPM custodial and grounds staff with routine trash/recycling removal and litter sweeps in high-traffic zones.
• Help transport light furniture, event equipment, and signage across campus buildings as needed.
• Report maintenance issues, broken equipment, or safety concerns noticed during daily tasks and walkthroughs.
• Support seasonal CPM needs (e.g., Commencement, Move-In) and perform other operational duties as assigned.

Additional Information

This is a part-time, non-benefited student only position and thehourly rate is $15.00.

Shift Information

Flexible schedule based on classavailability, event programming, and CPM operational needs.Occasional hours may be offered Monday-Friday between 8:00 AM and5:00 PM, most hours take place during early mornings, evenings, andweekends as dictated by the event calendar.
