Job summary

Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH, is seeking an Unattended Retail Associate to ensure the smooth operation of the dining vending program. You will stock, maintain, clean, and service Smart Coolers and cafe equipment, and assist with handling, storage, and transportation of food and products, upholding food safety standards.

This onsite role requires the ability to work a Monday–Friday schedule with weekends off, and the flexibility to work nights as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• At least two years of general food service experience.
• Must be able to qualify as a Dartmouth Approved Driver.

Responsibilities

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 6:30 am – 3:00 pm; Saturday & Sunday off

Location: Hanover, NH (Onsite only)

Position Purpose

Under the general supervision of the Manager or Supervisor, the Unattended Retail Associate ensures the efficient and continuous operation of Dartmouth Dining vending program. Working as part of a team, the associate stocks, maintains, cleans, and services Smart Coolers and associated cafe equipment, and assists with the handling, storage, and transportation of food and products, ensuring that appropriate food safety standards are consistently maintained.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalency
• At least two years of general food service experience
• Must be able to qualify as a Dartmouth Approved Driver
• Demonstrated ability to work in a fast‑paced operation and make decisions under pressure
• Good interpersonal and communication skills to interact with students, faculty and staff
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to shift attention to changing details
• Knowledge of sanitation regulations and policies and ability to obtain a sanitation certification (ServSafe)
• Knowledge of computer operations and familiarity with remote/mobile data terminals
• Committed to a positive work environment and teamwork
• Ability to work nights and weekends as needed or directed
• Can work independently with minimal supervision while meeting daily and weekly goals
• Can safely lift, carry and move short distances and up/down stairs 50 lbs regularly

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior retail food service experience, particularly with vending operations
• Prior experience with kiosk or smart cooler operations

Additional Requirements

Driving essential function: the job requires driving a vehicle (Dartmouth vehicle or comparable). The associate must maintain a valid driver’s license and be able to drive safely.
