Job summary

Altais in California City, CA seeks a Casual UM Coordinator to drive authorization processes across Ambulatory and Concurrent Care teams. You'll handle incoming authorizations, eligibility checks, and data entry within Turn Around Times, ensuring HIPAA compliance.

This 6-month contract emphasizes patient-centered care, teamwork, and professional communication. The role requires high school diploma and 2+ years UM/medical office experience, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and CPT/HCPCS/ICD

Qualifications

• UM experience in health plan authorizations or medical office settings.
• Experience with medical records and billing processes is preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs is required.
• Certification or equivalent experience in CPT, HCPCS, and ICD coding is expected.

Responsibilities

• Manage all incoming authorizations via portal or OnBase and verify eligibility and data where needed.
• Serve as liaison for internal/external customers requesting authorization information.
• Review authorization requests per established review designations and timelines.
• Prepare denial letters under supervision and provide accurate information to providers and staff.
• Contact provider offices for missing documentation and document details in Tapestry.
• Cross-train with other UM Coordinators to ensure coverage.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA guidelines.
