Job summary

Mary Washington Healthcare is seeking an Ultrasonographer to perform routine ultrasound procedures under Radiologist supervision. You will prepare patients, verify orders, and produce high-quality images with accurate documentation for interpretation.

The role involves patient interaction, infection control, inventory management, and collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team, including overseeing student training. Some weekend hours may apply.

Qualifications

• Completion of accredited ultrasound program or cross-training, or twelve months relevant experience.
• BLS certification required.
• ARDMS (AB or OB/GYN or RVT) or ARRT (S) required; registry within 6–12 months if not already.
• Registry in Abdomen (AB) and Pediatric Sonography (PS) preferred; ARRT (R) radiologic tech preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patients for ultrasound examinations by confirming orders, verifying identities, and obtaining medical histories.
• Performs ultrasound examinations on all patient age groups and maintains competency.
• Adheres to policies, procedures, standards, and infection control practices.
• Maintains a safe environment and disinfects equipment and probes.
• Supervises students and supports ultrasound cross-training programs.
• Monitors inventory and ensures uninterrupted supplies and materials.
• Records and files patient information for accurate billing and operations.
• Participates in performance improvement activities within the Ultrasound department.
