Job summary

Mary Washington Healthcare in Fredericksburg, VA is seeking a PRN Ultrasonographer to perform routine ultrasound procedures under supervision of a Radiologist. You will prepare patients, obtain histories, and ensure high-quality images and accurate documentation for interpretation.

The role requires ARDMS/ARRT credentials or eligibility, BLS, and operating with EMR and radiology information systems. This PRN opportunity offers a competitive hourly rate and exposure to a busy imaging department.

Qualifications

• Completion of accredited program in ultrasound or cross-training program, or twelve months relevant experience.
• AHA BLS provider certification is required.
• ARDMS (AB or OB/GYN or VT) or ARRT (S) required at time of hire. If not ARDMS (OB/GYN) registered at time of hire, registry required within six months of hire; If not ARDMS (VT) registered at time of hire, registry required within 12 months of hire.
• ARRT (R) registered in Radiologic Technology preferred.
• Three years relevant experience preferred.
• Experience with applicable EMR, Radiology, and information systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patients for ultrasound examinations by confirming providers’ orders, verifying patient identities, and obtaining adequate medical histories.
• Performs ultrasound examinations on all patient age groups and clinical conditions and maintains competency.
• Adheres to departmental policies, procedures, standards to ensure quality patient care.
• Maintains knowledge of ultrasound services/operations.
• Disinfects equipment and ultrasound probes and follows infection control standards.
• Adheres to standard precautions at all times.
• Supervises and supports students in ultrasound cross-training.
• Monitors supplies and ensures availability to prevent service interruption.
• Documents patient information and procedural data for accurate billing and operations.
• Participates in performance improvement activities for the Ultrasound department.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
