Job summary

Mary Washington Healthcare in Fredericksburg, VA seeks a skilled Ultrasonographer to prepare patients, verify orders, and perform high-quality ultrasound exams under radiologist supervision.

You will adhere to safety standards, disinfect equipment, supervise students, and help maintain department efficiency while contributing to performance improvement initiatives. ARDMS/ARRT credentials and BLS are required.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited program in ultrasound or MWHC/MIF cross-training program, or twelve months relevant experience required.
• BLS certification required.
• ARDMS (AB or OB/GYN or RVT) or ARRT (S) required; registry timelines apply.
• Registry in Abdomen (AB) and Pediatric Sonography (PS) preferred.
• ARRT (R) registered in Radiologic Technology preferred.
• Three years relevant experience preferred.
• Experience with applicable EMR, Radiology, and information systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patients for ultrasound examinations by confirming orders, verifying identity, and obtaining medical histories.
• Performs ultrasound examinations on all ages and conditions and maintains competency.
• Adheres to policies and protocols to ensure safety and quality care.
• Disinfects equipment and probes according to standards.
• Supervises students and supports ultrasound training programs.
• Maintains inventory to prevent service interruptions.
• Documents procedures and supports accurate billing.
• Participates in performance improvement within the Ultrasound department.
