Job summary

Valley Regional Medical Center is seeking a PRN Ultrasound Technician RVT to join our Harlingen, TX team. The Ultrasound sonographer will perform diagnostic ultrasound and radiology procedures with independent judgment in a busy clinical setting.

Candidates should hold BCLS, RDMS preferred, and have an Associate Degree with at least one year of experience. RVT/RVS credentials are desirable. This role supports high-quality patient care within a prominent HCA Healthcare facility.

Qualifications

• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required.
• RDMS certification preferred or required where applicable.
• Associate degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or related field.
• RVT or RVS credentials desirable; at least one of these certifications.

Responsibilities

• Performs ultrasound procedures with independent judgment and initiative.
• Demonstrates competency with obstetric and vascular ultrasound techniques.
• Maintains quality imaging and proper documentation in Meditech or equivalent systems.
• Assists with high-risk pregnancies and complex fetal biometry as needed.
• Ensures patient safety and adheres to departmental policies.

Job Summary And Qualifications

The Ultrasound sonographer performs a variety of technical procedures that require rational independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative in performing Ultrasounds and Radiology procedures with basic departmental functions and goals.

What You Will Do In This Role

• Demonstrates competency in U/S transducers, construction and properties, crystal thickness, wavelength, frequency spectrum, resonance, damping
• Demonstrates competency in transducers beam configuration, near and far field, focal zone, beam profile
• Demonstrates competency in pulse characteristics, pulse repetition frequency, pulse repetition period, and spatial pulse length
• Demonstrates competency in technical factors for diagnostic quality images, focal zone, depth, amplitude dynamic range and compression, analog-to-digital converter (ADC), digital-to-analog converter (DAC), brightness, contrast
• Demonstrates competency in various display modes, real-time imaging, echogenicity of reflectors, echotextures, artifacts
• Demonstrates competency in obstetrics, first trimester, standard measurements (e.g. heart rate, CRL, MSD), maternal anatomy (uterus, cervix, adnexa), embryonic anatomy
• Demonstrates competency in high risk and complicated pregnancy, multiple gestations, (chorionicity, amnionicity, twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome, conjoined) fetal biophysical profile
• Demonstrates accuracy in Meditech training by: sending work request, display and printing a variety of reports.
• Demonstrates competency with critical behaviors and age specific care

What Qualifications You Will Need

• Basic Cardiac Life Support
• (RDMS) Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer
• Associate Degree
• (RVT) Registered Vascular Technician, or (RVS) Registered Vascular Specialist
• Minium one year of experience preferred
