Job summary

Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville, TX is seeking an Ultra sound Sonographer to perform ultrasound and radiology procedures with independence and initiative.

You will demonstrate competency with transducers, imaging techniques, obstetric measurements, and Meditech reporting, while adhering to safety and quality standards. A BS/AS degree and RDMS certification are preferred, with at least one year of experience in ultrasound required.

Qualifications

• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required or active.
• RDMS certification or eligible for RDMS credential.
• Associates degree or higher in sonography or related field.
• RV T or RVS registration preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform ultrasound examinations with competency in transducers and imaging principles.
• Operate ultrasound/radiology equipment and ensure image quality.
• Document findings and support Meditech reporting.
• Maintain patient safety and provide age-appropriate care.
• Assist in obstetric ultrasound measurements and fetal assessments.

Job Summary and Qualifications

The Ultra sonographer performs a variety of technical procedures that require rational independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative in performing Ultrasounds and Radiology procedures with basic departmental functions and goals.

What you will do in this role:

• Demonstrates competency in U/S transducers, construction and properties, crystal thickness, wavelength, frequency spectrum, resonance, damping

• Demonstrates competency in transducers beam configuration, near and far field, focal zone, beam profile

• Demonstrates competency in pulse characteristics, pulse repetition frequency, pulse repetition period, and spatial pulse length

• Demonstrates competency in technical factors for diagnostic quality images, focal zone, depth, amplitude dynamic range and compression, analog-to-digital converter (ADC), digital-to-analog converter (DAC), brightness, contrast

• Demonstrates competency in various display modes, real-time imaging, echogenicity of reflectors, echotextures, artifacts

• Demonstrates competency in obstetrics, first trimester, standard measurements (e.g. heart rate, CRL, MSD), maternal anatomy (uterus, cervix, adnexa), embryonic anatomy

• Demonstrates competency in high risk and complicated pregnancy, multiple gestations, (chorionicity, amnionicity, twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome, conjoined) fetal biophysical profile

• Demonstrates accuracy in Meditech training by: sending work request, display and printing a variety of reports.

• Demonstrates competency with critical behaviors and age specific care

What qualifications you will need:

• Basic Cardiac Life Support

• (RDMS) Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer

• Associate Degree

• (RVT) Registered Vascular Technician, or (RVS) Registered Vascular Specialist

• Minium one year of experience preferred
