Job summary

Olmsted Medical Center in Rochester, MN seeks a Diagnostic Ultrasonographer Supervisor with 5+ years of ultrasound experience and ARDMS certification. The role leads ultrasound staff, designs work schedules, and ensures QA and regulatory compliance.

Qualified candidates will have accreditation in diagnostic sonography, BLS, and leadership experience; 0.5–1.0 FTE terms apply with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited Diagnostic Sonography program.
  • Certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
  • Five years of ultrasound experience.
  • Supervisor or lead experience preferred.
  • BLS certification.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises ultrasound personnel performing routine and specialized imaging procedures; plans work and resolves issues.
  • Contributes to QA programs; ensures equipment reliability and regulatory compliance; coordinates ACR accreditation.
  • Designs schedules and manages daily ultrasound operations to maintain adequate staffing.
  • Oversees interviewing, hiring, performance reviews, promotions, transfers, and vacation planning.
  • Manages inventory of supplies and equipment; coordinates lifting and patient positioning.

1.0 FTE - Day/Evening and weekend shifts

Starting Pay - $44.34 to $66.51 (based on experience)

Offers for external candidates are generally made between the minimum and midpoint of the range, based on experience.

Qualifications:

  • Satisfactory completion of an accrediting Diagnostic Sonography Program
  • Certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography
  • Five years' experience in ultrasound
  • Supervisor or lead experience preferred
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology
  • Ability to recognize subtle differences between healthy and pathological areas
  • BLS certification

Job Responsibilities:

  • Supervises the work of ultrasound personnel engaged in performing routine and specialized imaging procedures including planning ultrasound work, evaluating work performed, and handling procedural and technical problems.
  • Assists in development and implementation of quality control programs to ensure reliability of testing procedures, proper functioning of ultrasound equipment, and compliance with federal regulations; prepares and maintains applicable records. Coordinates and is responsible for the ACR accreditation for ultrasound.
  • Designs appropriate work schedules for subordinate employees and plans daily work assignments in order to maintain an adequate personnel complement for ultrasound efficiency.
  • Supervises various personnel functions including, but not limited to, interviewing, hiring, performance appraisals, promotions, transfers, and vacation schedules.
  • Develops process to maintain sufficient inventory of material supplies and equipment for performance of duties.
  • Moderates amount of lifting and positioning patients and equipment.
  • Ability to frequently lift objects heavier than 100 pounds.
  • Concentrates on fine details with constant interruption.
  • Attends to tasks for 45 to 60 minutes at a time.
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
  • Understands and relates to the concepts behind specific ideas.
  • Must multi-task.
  • Other duties as assigned.
