Job summary

Frederick Health is seeking an Ultrasound Technologist to work on an as-needed basis, performing a variety of diagnostic sonographic exams during 12-hour night shifts, weekdays, weekends, and holiday rotations under limited supervision.

You will acquire high-quality images, transmit to PACS, assist radiologists with procedures, ensure patient safety and comfort, and maintain equipment and records in a busy radiology department.

Qualifications

• CPR certification is required.
• Graduate of a JRCERT approved program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
• Credential from ARDMS as a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer or eligible within one year of hire.

Seeking an Ultrasound Technologist to work on an as needed basis. Will work 12 hour night shifts, weekdays, weekends, and holiday rotation.

Job Summary

With limited supervision and broad direction from the Radiology Manager, Clinical Imaging Supervisor and Radiologists. Provides a variety of diagnostic services using reflected sound waves to display images of body tissue on a video monitor to neonatal, infant, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient populations.

Supports, and is responsible for incorporating into job performance, the Frederick Health (FH) mission, vision, core values and customer service philosophy and adheres to the FH Compliance Program, including following all regulatory requirements and the FH Standards of Behavior.

Essential Functions:

• Performs a variety of sonographic examinations (abdomen, OB, etc.) recording anatomic, pathologic and/or physiologic data for interpretation by the radiologist.
• Selects proper technical settings and scan protocols computer menu.
• Transmits images to PACS for interpretation and for permanent record.
• Assist radiologist during ultrasound guided biopsy and aspiration procedures.
• Performs echographic images.
• Responsible for obtaining optimal images to provide the radiologist with information to assure that an accurate diagnosis is rendered.
• Evaluates Ultrasound images with the radiologist.
• Monitors equipment status to prevent damage.
• Obtains informed consent.
• Applies standard precautions and sterile technique.
• Responsible for the cleanliness and orderliness of workspace.
• Checks drug interaction kit for missing or expired items.
• Ensures that patient records are complete and signed prior to examination completion.
• Executes a variety of tasks associated with PACS and HIS systems.
• Screens patients for possibility of pregnancy.
• Applies and proper radiation protection according to prescribed safety standards.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Prepare the exam room.
• Maintain and clean sonographic equipment.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Capable of working independently
• Possess excellent customer relation skills.
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Ability to manage stressful work with patients having potentially disabling or terminal conditions.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve minor equipment problems.

Minimum Education, Training, and Experience Required:

• CPR certification
• Graduate of JRCERT approved program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography
• Credentials from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers as a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer or within one year of hire.

Must demonstrate and maintain current knowledge and skills in providing appropriate care/contact for patients in the following age groups:

• Neonate (0 thru 30 days)
• Infant (31 thru 12 months)
• Child (13 months thru 12 years)
• Adolescent (13 years thru 17 years)
• Adult (18 years thru 65 years)
• Geriatric (66+ years)
• Performance of job does not require patient contact

Physical Demands:

Medium-Heavy Work – Lifting up to 100 pounds on an infrequent basis (less than one lift every three minutes) and/or carrying up to 50 pounds while walking.Pushing or pulling up to 115 pounds infrequently or greater than 115 pounds occasionally (no more than once per hour).

Awkward Posture :Posture is the position your body is in and its effect on the muscle groups that engage in the physical activity. Awkward postures include repeated or prolonged reaching, twisting, bending, kneeling, squatting, working overhead with your hands or arms, or holding fixed positions.

Contact Stress :Pressing the body hard on sharp edges can result in placing too much pressure on nerves, tendons, and blood vessels. For example, using the palm of your hand to hit or stick objects can increase risk of musculoskeletal disorders.

• Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Risk:Category A – WILL have exposure to blood or body fluids.
• Contact with moving equipment.
• Stressful work during periods of high demand for ultrasound services.

Pay is based on experience, skills and education. If position is part-time, salary will be pro-rated based on scheduled hours. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on specialty if applicable. Non-Exempt positions may have shift differential and/or Overtime paid, if applicable.

Hourly range: $36.63 - $52.65
