Qualifications

• Advanced training beyond High School that includes the completion of an accredited or approved program in Sonography.
• No experience required.
• ARDMS/ARRT registrations to be obtained within specified timelines as per department policy.

Responsibilities

• Operate ultrasound equipment to perform general, vascular and/or cardiac procedures/studies and differentiate normal vs pathological findings.
• Review patient medical records, obtain clinical information, and ensure exam accuracy by comparing requisitions to physician orders.
• Position patient and select transducers and technical factors; adjust settings to obtain accurate images while ensuring patient safety and comfort.
• Use cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures to anatomical and diagnostic information.
• Label images with patient identifiers and locations; maintain records and enter data into the radiology information system; document billing codes.
• Identify equipment performance issues and communicate with staff; evaluate new products for future use.
• Analyze sonograms and medical history; communicate findings to the physician.
