Job summary

Aurora Medical Group, Inc. is seeking an experienced Sonographer to perform general, vascular and cardiac ultrasound studies in a fast-paced clinic serving an elderly population. You will obtain clinical information, adjust imaging parameters, and ensure patient comfort while maintaining accuracy.

The role requires ARDMS registrations or equivalent, 2 years of experience, and a commitment to teamwork, safety, and compliance with department guidelines.

Qualifications

• Advanced training beyond High School that includes the completion of an accredited or approved program in Sonography.
• Typically requires 2 years of experience in a Sonographer role.
• Proficiency in all general and/or vascular sonographic procedures routinely performed in the hiring department.
• Ability to use independent judgment to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings.
• Ability to work effectively with others towards common department goals.
• Actively and positively contributes to morale and teamwork.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Advanced knowledge of aseptic techniques.
• Knowledge of and adherence to department, facility and organization policies and protocols.

Responsibilities

• Operates ultrasound equipment to perform general, vascular and/or cardiac procedures.
• Reviews patient's medical records and physician orders to ensure exam accuracy.
• Positions patient and selects transducer and factors for accurate imaging; ensures patient comfort.
• Uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify and adapt procedures based on anatomy and findings.
• Identifies images with patient name, MRU number, and scan location.
• Maintains records and enters study information into the radiology information system; documents billing codes.
• Identifies equipment issues and evaluates new products for potential use.
• Analyzes sonograms and communicates findings to the physician.
• Serves as a technical resource and preceptor for students and staff.
• Participates in quality improvement and accreditation initiatives.
