Job summary

Qualifications

• Advanced training beyond high school includes an accredited or approved program in Sonography.
• Knowledge of and ability to adhere to aseptic techniques.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients and caregivers.

Responsibilities

• Operates ultrasound equipment for general, vascular and/or cardiac studies and differentiates between normal and pathologic findings.
• Reviews patient records and orders to ensure exam accuracy and collects necessary clinical information.
• Positions patient and selects transducer and factors to obtain accurate images; ensures patient safety and comfort.
• Uses sonographic skills to identify and adapt procedures based on anatomy and diagnostic needs.
• Labels images with patient identifiers and scan location.
• Maintains radiology records and documents billing codes for procedures.
• Identifies equipment issues and evaluates new products for potential use.
• Analyzes sonograms, synthesizes findings, and communicates results to physicians.
• Provide care appropriate to age-specific patient needs per department policies.
