Job summary

Westchester General Hospital in Florida is seeking an Ultrasonography Technologist to produce two‑dimensional ultrasound recordings for diagnostic use by physicians. You will select equipment, explain procedures to patients, adjust transducers, input data, capture and archive images, and discuss results with clinicians.

Must be graduates of an accredited program; BLS certified; ARDMS preferred; minimum one year of experience; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be graduate from an accredited program of ultrasound technology.
• BLS certification.
• ARDMS license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Selects equipment for ultrasound setup according to examination specifications.
• Explains process to patient, and assists patient in assuming physical position for examination.
• Selects transducer and adjusts equipment controls according to organ to be examined, depth of field, and other specifications of test.
• Keys test data and patient information into computer of ultrasound equipment to maintain record of test results.
• Moves transducer, by hand, over specified area of body and observes sound wave display screen to monitor quality of ultrasonic pattern produced.
• Starts equipment which produces images of internal organs and records diagnostic data on magnetic tape, computer disk, strip printout, or film.
• Photographs images of organs shown on display module, or removes strip printout from equipment, to obtain permanent record on internal examination.
• Discusses test results with supervisor or attending physician.
• Demonstrate proper respect, attitude, courtesy, and professionalism and communication skills towards patients, staff, co-workers, doctors, administration personnel.
• Performs other assigned duties as required.
• May be required to vary shifts and/or weekend rotation as needs of the department dictate.
• May include overtime, only if approved by Director.
