UL Solutions in Northbrook, IL seeks a qualified engineer to test and certify fire alarm, access control, and smoke detection systems to UL standards. You will manage certification projects, coordinate testing activities, and provide technical guidance to clients.

The role requires strong communication and project management skills, and involves travel to client sites as needed. A university degree in electrical engineering is required and MS Office proficiency is expected.

Qualifications

• University degree in Electrical engineering.
• Prior engineering experience preferred.
• Experience with fire and smoke detection, access control, and fire alarm control panels (preferred).
• Customer-facing experience required.

Responsibilities

• Determine project scope and plan investigations, estimating cost, time, and samples.
• Coordinate testing activities at client sites and with laboratories.
• Explain UL procedures to clients and negotiate deadlines and sample needs.
• Provide technical assistance on product inspection and follow-up services.
• Prepare data sheets, schedules and reports for clients.
