The ideal candidate has 5+ years in UI/UX and frontend, deep React/TypeScript experience, familiarity with HTML5/CSS3, and design tool proficiency (Figma/Adobe XD), plus an active Top Secret clearance and ability to pass background checks.

Overview

This position is on-site in Washington, DC and does not permit hybrid/telework. Candidates must have an active Top Secret clearance for consideration.

The UI/UX & Frontend Developer combines user experience research, wireframing, prototyping, responsive design, and hands-on front-end development to create seamless digital experiences. The ideal candidate excels in design thinking, has strong visual and iterative design skills, and is skilled at translating wireframes and prototypes into robust, maintainable UI components.

Responsibilities

• Develop wireframes, prototypes, and user flows to ensure functionality aligns with user needs.
• Create and maintain style guides, pattern libraries, and reusable design artifacts to enhance design consistency.
• Conduct user needs research, collect feedback, and refine design decisions to improve user experiences.
• Ensure all designs and front-end implementations fully adhere to 508 accessibility regulations and align with FBI design standards.
• Build responsive and accessible user interfaces using modern front-end frameworks, including JavaScript/TypeScript and React.
• Collaborate with backend developers to align UI components with API capabilities and system functionality.
• Facilitate and support usability testing, analyze results, and provide actionable, design-driven recommendations to improve UI/UX performance.
• Provide design and frontend development support for cross-team modernization initiatives and additional unit projects.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• At least 5+ years of professional experience in UI/UX design and frontend development.
• Demonstrated expertise in using prototyping tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, or similar.
• Strong proficiency with modern frontend frameworks, including React and JavaScript/TypeScript, as well as web technologies such as HTML5 and CSS3.
• Comprehensive understanding of web accessibility standards, 508 compliance, responsive design, and design systems.
• Ability to create and maintain scalable and reusable design system components.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Design, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
• Active Top Secret Security Clearance required.
• Must be able to pass a background check. May require additional background checks as required by projects and/or clients at any time during employment.

• Proficient in Microsoft and Adobe toolsets, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Acrobat, etc.
• Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills; able to work effectively with diverse technical teams.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
• Proactive, adaptable, and comfortable working in dynamic project environments.
• Ability to interpret technical requirements, identify gaps, and coordinate with specialized teams to resolve them.
• Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
