Job summary

Idaho Department of Labor in Boise is seeking multiple full-time Workforce Consultant (Claims Specialist) positions to administer Idaho's unemployment benefits program and assist individuals in person with questions regarding Unemployment Insurance (UI).

Ideal candidates will have strong oral communications skills, excellent problem-solving and organizational abilities, high stress tolerance, and the ability to work independently with computers and software programs.

Qualifications

• Experience interviewing and documenting information.
• Experience assisting emotional, difficult or confrontational people from diverse backgrounds.
• Experience determining eligibility for programs and services.
• Experience preparing professional written communication.
• Experience using computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Review claims to determine UI eligibility for benefits.
• Assist customers with unemployment insurance questions and provide quality customer service.
• Provide detailed instructions regarding unemployment insurance process, rights and responsibilities.
• Offer in-person assistance to receive, research and respond to questions or complaints; explain policy and procedures.
• Visit businesses for rapid response efforts, mass layoffs, or mobile claims filing.
• Take overpayments and employer tax payments.
