Job summary

Oregon Employment Department is seeking a Claims Specialist to process unemployment insurance claims and maintain contact with claimants and employers. You will review information, enter data, and determine eligibility while applying laws and regulations.

You will educate customers on UI services and ensure accuracy in a fast-paced environment. The role emphasizes phone-based customer interactions, accuracy, and the ability to work independently.

Qualifications

• Two years’ experience doing administrative research that includes compiling and evaluating facts to recommend management action or decide eligibility or compliance with program guidelines and regulations.
• College-level coursework may substitute for experience at 45 quarter units per year of experience.
• Experience engaging with customers over the phone on inbound/outbound calls is desirable.
• Ability to learn and use specialized software.

Responsibilities

• Answer inbound telephone calls from claimants and employers to gather information and provide status updates regarding UI claims, appeals, and processes.
• Enter claims information and documentation into our computerized database from multiple sources.
• Analyze claims to determine eligibility for UI benefits and apply applicable statutes and regulations.
• Provide quality assurance by reviewing claims for completeness and accuracy to meet customer needs and production goals.
• Educate claimants, employers and businesses about UI services.
