Job summary

Actalent is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer in Bingen, WA to design, develop, and support embedded flight software for unmanned aircraft systems. You will work with C++, Python, embedded Linux, RTOS, and GCS interfaces to enable flight controls, telemetry, and mission planning.

You will collaborate with hardware, electrical, and software teams to deliver reliable aerospace software, participate in validation activities, and support flight testing with telemetry analysis and issue

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant engineering field.
• 2+ years of embedded software development experience.
• Proficiency in C++ and Python for embedded development.
• Experience with embedded Linux or RTOS.
• Knowledge of UART, CAN, TCP/IP/UDP.
• Experience with UAV/UAS software development or integration.
• Understanding of aerospace or avionics concepts.
• Experience with firmware and embedded C/C++ development.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain embedded flight software for unmanned aircraft systems.
• Develop and support GCS and mission planning interfaces.
• Implement real-time and embedded Linux components for flight controls and telemetry.
• Collaborate with hardware and systems teams to integrate software with avionics and sensors.
• Validate software through testing, debugging, and DO-178C aligned practices where applicable.
• Contribute to GCS interfaces using Qt or PyQt when required.
• Assist in firmware development for mission-critical components.
• Support flight testing by building software, analyzing telemetry, and troubleshooting.
