Job summary

SAIC in Huntsville, AL seeks an UAS Software Integration Engineer to join the S3I JSIL Tech Center. The role focuses on integrating software/hardware for UAS ground control stations and real-time systems.

Candidates should have experience with Linux/Windows, virtualization (VMware, KVM), containers (Docker/Podman), scripting (Bash/PowerShell/Python), and C/C++/C#. The position is on-site at the customer site in Huntsville, AL.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with five (5) years of work experience; four (4) additional years of experience in lieu of degree.
• Bachelor's degree with nine (9) years of work experience; four (4) additional years of experience in lieu of degree.
• Experience developing systems using Linux and Windows computing environments.
• Experience with operating system virtualization utilizing Type I and II hypervisors (vSphere, KVM, VMware Workstation).
• Experience with containerization (Docker and/or Podman).
• Experience with Cisco Systems, configuration, network administration and firewalls.
• Experience with scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or PowerShell.
• Experience with C, C++, and C# development.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to system hardware and software architecture decisions based on customer requirements.
• Design electrical architecture and integrated systems for real-time, mission-critical systems including flight systems, sensors, and ground control stations.
• Perform hardware and software design/review/build cycles for prototype construction and testing at customer location.
• Configure virtual and physical switches and troubleshoot network issues on switches and firewalls.
• Develop automated network installation and configuration scripts using Bash, PowerShell, Java, and Python.
• Create System Description Documents, System requirements, Data Flow Documents, and Network Diagrams.

SAIC is seeking a motivated, creative, and ambitious UAS (Unmanned Aircraft Systems) Software Integration Engineer to join the Software, Simulation, Systems Engineering and Integration Directorate (S3I) Joint Technology Center – Systems Integration Lab (JSIL) Tech Center. The candidate will be part of a dynamic and multidisciplinary team developing advanced system and software integration solutions for the U.S. Army and Air Force Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS)/Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) Ground Control Stations.

The candidate will sit at our customer site in Huntsville, AL.

Job Duties:

• Contribute to system hardware and software architecture decisions based on customer performance, schedule, and cost requirements.
• Design electrical architecture and integrated systems for real-time, mission-critical systems including flight systems, sensors, and ground control stations.
• Perform hardware and software design/review/build cycles for prototype construction and implement plans for prototype testing at customer location.
• Configure virtual and physical switches and troubleshoot network issues on virtual/physical switches and firewalls.
• Use scripting languages to develop automated network installation and configuration using Bash, PowerShell, Java, and Python.
• Develop engineering technical material including but not limited to System Description Documents, System requirements, Data Flow Documents, and Network Diagrams.

Required Education and Experience:

• Intermediate Level: Bachelors degree and five (5) years of work experience; four (4) additional years of experience in lieu of degree.
• Senior Level: Bachelors degree and nine (9) years of work experience; four (4) additional years of experience in lieu of degree.
• Experience developing systems using Linux and Windows computing environments.
• Experience with operating system virtualization utilizing Type I and II hypervisors (vSphere, KVM, VMWare Workstation).
• Experience with containerization (i.e. Docker and/or Podman).
• Experience with Cisco Systems, configuration, network administration and firewalls.
• Experience with scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or PowerShell.

Required Clearance:

• Must possess an active Secret security clearance with the ability to maintain; US Citizenship required.

Desired Experience:

• Strong understanding of general computing system architectures and virtual machines.
• Experience performing remote network configuration.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Security+ SE and a Network+ SE is a plus.
