Job summary

SAIC seeks a motivated UAS Cybersecurity Engineer to join the S3I JSIL Tech Center in Huntsville, AL. The role focuses on hardening hardware, software, and OS for UAS systems and subsystems, with collaboration across system integrators and project teams.

Responsibilities include vulnerability scanning, risk assessment, and documentation; you will work within an agile scrum to deliver secure, hardened systems and cyber reports using industry-standard tools and RMF guidance.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree and five years of experience, or four years more in lieu of a degree.
• Strong experience with Linux operating systems.
• Experience with industry cyber tools: ACAS, Nessus, SCAP, STIG Viewer.
• Experience with source code scanning tools: Checkmarx, SonarQube, Fortify.
• Active Secret clearance with ability to obtain Top Secret clearance within time frame.

Responsibilities

• Perform software and system installation, configuration, and troubleshooting for development and hardening.
• Scan software, hardware, and OS to identify vulnerabilities and resolve findings.
• Modify system configurations to mitigate vulnerabilities in Windows and UNIX OS.
• Conduct cybersecurity vulnerability testing, system evaluation, and documentation.
• Prepare for SCA events using STIGs, ACAS, Nessus, and NIST RMF; create security artifacts.
• Collaborate with integrators, network engineers, software developers, and project managers on security controls.
• Work in an agile scrum model producing cyber reports and hardened systems biweekly.
• Develop cybersecurity engineering materials including reports, SSP, RTMs, and SOPs.

Job description

SAIC is seeking a motivated and ambitious UAS (Unmanned Aircraft Systems) Cybersecurity Engineer to join the Software, Simulation, Systems Engineering and Integration Directorate (S3I) Joint Technology Center - Systems Integration Lab (JSIL) Tech Center. The UAS Cybersecurity Engineer will perform hardware, software, and operating system hardening and documentation for UAS systems and associated subsystems.

The candidate will sit at our customer site in Huntsville, AL.

Job Duties:

• Perform software and system installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of commercial and government software for system development, scanning, and hardening.
• Conduct software application source, hardware component, and operating system scans to identify system vulnerabilities.
• Conduct system configuration changes to resolve system vulnerabilities including changes to Microsoft Windows and UNIX-based operating system configuration files.
• Conduct Cybersecurity vulnerability testing, full system evaluation, and documentation.
• Use STIGs, ACAS, NESSUS, and the NIST Risk Management Framework to prepare for and complete Security Control Assessment (SCA) events.
• Collaborate with system integrators, network engineers, software developers, and project managers to implement, maintain and monitor technical security controls, and harden information systems.
• Work within an agile scrum development model producing cyber reports and hardened systems on a biweekly basis.
• Develop Cybersecurity engineering technical material including vulnerability assessment reports, architectural analysis reports, system security plan, security control traceability matrix, and cyber SOPs using the Microsoft Office Suite.

Required Education and Experience:

Intermediate Level: Bachelors degree and five (5) years of experience; four (4) years of additional experience in lieu of a degree.

Senior Level: Bachelors degree and nine (9) years of experience; four (4) years of additional experience in lieu of a degree.

Strong experience with Linux operating systems.

Experience with system scanning, identification and resolution of vulnerabilities.

Experience with industry Cyber tools including ACAS, Nessus, SCAP, and STIG Viewer.

Experience with source code scanning utilities (e.g. Checkmarx, SonarQube, Fortify, etc.)

Required Clearance:

Must possess an active Secret security clearance prior to starting; must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance.

Required Certification:

Actively hold or have the ability to obtain a CompTIA Security+ Certification within 90 days of hire.
