Job description

Job Overview

The AmeriCorps Volunteer will assist with recruiting and promoting 4‑H youth and community volunteer participation, network with other community agencies, contribute to 4‑H social networking sites, and may be asked to help with planning and preparing for group lessons and activities. Special emphasis will be on communication with staff, members and project leaders (volunteers) by creating and sending friendly weekly reminders via text and or email, maintaining the 4‑H calendar, and creating and maintaining a monthly newsletter. Additional duties may include gathering necessary materials and supplies for various teaching methods to promote learning and implementing activities. The schedule may vary based on programming needs and may require the member to attend and help at various monthly afternoon, evening or Saturday meetings, activities and events.

Member Duties

• Create and send friendly reminders to members and volunteers.
• Update and contribute to 4‑H social media and websites.
• Create and maintain newsletter.
• Create and maintain an annual 4‑H calendar.
• Create promotional materials for various programs.
• Assist with gathering necessary materials and supplies.
• Assist with developing and collecting evaluations.
• Assist staff and volunteers with the Showmanship Showdown.
• Assist staff and volunteers at County Fair.
• Assist in developing and delivery of 4‑H educational activities, projects and programs.
• Provide occasional assistance to staff and leaders with afternoon, evening and Saturday meetings, activities and events.
• Explore and coordinate partnering opportunities with other related organizations.
