Job summary

AbbVie is seeking a Privacy Manager, U.S. to advance the company’s privacy program within pharmacy operations.

You will serve as a subject-matter expert on privacy matters, lead impact assessments, audits, and reviews, and ensure HIPAA compliance while coordinating across Commercial, Marketing, Security, Technology Solutions, and Procurement. You will develop privacy processes, train staff, monitor federal and state privacy laws, and report KPI metrics to senior leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; 5–7 years of direct privacy experience focused on program operations, governance, risk, and compliance activities.
• Deep knowledge of U.S. privacy requirements, including HIPAA, TCPA, CAN‑SPAM, and FTC frameworks.
• Experience with privacy matters in the digital and advertising technology ecosystem and the biopharmaceutical industry.
• Experience advising on privacy matters related to health information processing and familiarity with patient consent management, call center operations, digital outreach, and vendor oversight.
• Highly organized, detail‑oriented, analytically rigorous; ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and workstreams, present to and advise senior management.
• Experience working across a matrixed corporate environment.
• IAPP certifications such as CIPP/US, CIPP/T, or CIPP/M are a plus; GDPR familiarity is a plus.
• Familiarity with privacy/knowledge management platforms and tools (e.g., OneTrust, SNOW, Confluence) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic privacy support for commercial functions and corporate operations, including privacy strategy and governance.
• Lead privacy impact assessments, audits, and oversight of patient-facing materials and consent language.
• Develop and maintain privacy operations processes and procedures.
• Triage and document privacy investigations and drive privacy operations.
• Collaborate with Legal Privacy and cross-functional teams to implement privacy requirements.
• Develop privacy training and awareness programs for business units and new hires.
• Monitor evolving U.S. privacy laws and enforcement trends and report KPIs to leadership.
• Incorporate Privacy by Design into work products and decision-making.
