Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related discipline; equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of privacy/compliance experience.
  • Privacy certifications such as IAPP CIPP, CIPM, or equivalent.
  • Experience supporting privacy governance programs in a complex enterprise.
  • Strong understanding of privacy principles, data subject rights, and accountability obligations.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives without direct authority.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with operational and leadership audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as trusted partner to data intake, inventory and risk classification boards on privacy matters.
  • Support global DSR and privacy complaints operating model across jurisdictions.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify and automate privacy workflows, including DSR intake and triage.
  • Assist internal audits, external inspections, and governance reviews with high-quality records.

Job Description

The role serves as a strategic position within AbbVie’s Program Management and Operations Team, helping shape and support the program’s record of processing, data protection impact assessment and other accountability obligations, as well as the programs data subject rights (DSR) governance program. This role partners across functions and regions to strengthen privacy governance, enable scalable privacy practices, and promote consistent accountability across the enterprise.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and mature privacy program activities related to privacy accountability assessment obligations, including related case management for new business initiatives.
  • Support and drive AbbVie’s “Privacy Accountability Assessment” operating model, ensuring assessments are handled in a timely, accurate, and well-documented manner across jurisdictions and functions.
  • Support the design and maintenance of work instructions, and accountability controls.
  • Lead support for the integration between the Privacy Accountability Assessment model, third party security risk due diligence and “privacy by design” requirements within AbbVie’s technology life cycle processes to strengthen enterprise privacy governance, improve process alignment, and enable consistent and holistic accountability across both business use cases, AbbVie technical assets, and third-party engagement.
  • Serve as a trusted partner and advisor to AbbVie’s data intake, inventory and risk classification board on privacy matters and privacy program best practices.
  • Support the global DSR and privacy complaints operating model, ensuring timely, accurate, and well-documented request handling across jurisdictions and functions.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, and automate privacy workflows, including DSR intake, triage, fulfillment, escalation, and closure.
  • Support internal audits, external inspections, and governance reviews by maintaining high-quality records, evidence, and process documentation.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Law, Compliance, Information Governance, Information Security, or a related discipline; equivalent experience considered.
  • 5+ years of experience in privacy, compliance, legal operations, data governance, or program management.
  • Privacy certifications such as IAPP CIPP, CIPM, or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting privacy governance programs, DSR processes, or related activities in a complex enterprise environment.
  • Strong understanding of privacy principles, data subject rights, and accountability obligations.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence without direct authority.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage both operational and leadership audiences.
  • Experience in a global life sciences, healthcare, or highly regulated industry.
  • Experience with control design, audit support, or privacy maturity assessments.
  • Exposure to records of processing, privacy by design, vendor privacy reviews, or data governance initiatives.

  • The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

  • This job is eligible to participate in our long-term incentive programs.
