Job summary

The Lawrenceville School in central New Jersey invites applications for the Independent School Teaching Residency (ISTR) program, a two-year teaching fellowship with PennGSE, starting June 2027. The two-year fellowship focuses on History with mentoring and co-curricular responsibilities within a boarding school community.

Fellows will teach, live on campus, and participate in residential life while pursuing a Penn GSE Master of Education.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• Experience working with young people.
• Co-curricular life experience.
• Comfort in a fast-paced academic environment.
• Desire to engage in boarding school life.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Time management and organizational skills.
• Growth mindset.
• Three letters of recommendation (two academic, one work-related).

Responsibilities

• Teach two different preparations/courses in year one and four sections in year two.
• Supervise a student dormitory as a duty team member weekly.
• Provide weekend chaperone coverage.
• In year two, serve as academic advisor to a group of six to eight students.
• Live on campus with the cohort and participate in residential life.
• Coach at least one season of interscholastic athletics.
• Lead or co-lead one additional term of co-curricular activity.
• Other duties as assigned.
