Job summary

The Lawrenceville School invites applicants for the Independent School Teaching Residency (ISTR), a two-year teaching fellowship with PennGSE beginning June 2027. Fellows teach their own classes from year one, join a House team, advise students in year two, and undertake co-curricular duties while living on campus.

Fellows partner with a mentor, participate in regular cohort meetings, and pursue a PennGSE Master of Education.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Experience working with young people.
• Experience in an area of co-curricular school life.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced, demanding academic environment.
• Desire to engage in the life of a boarding school community.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong time management and organizational skills.
• Growth mindset.

Responsibilities

• Teach two different preparations/courses in year one.
• Residential duties: supervise dorms, chaperone on weekends, and participate in residential life.
• Lead/Co-lead at least one term of co-curricular activity (athletics, arts, publications, etc.).
• Engage in the PennGSE master’s program and collaborate with mentor teachers and a cohort.
