Job Overview

The multi‑modality Radiology Technologist performs a variety of technical procedures for radiological diagnosis or treatment of patients. Responsibilities include injection skills as needed and other related techniques to produce images for interpretation by a radiologist or other credentialed specialist.

Responsibilities

• Operate highly specialized, technical equipment to obtain quality images.
• Perform IV contrast injections and other required skills.
• May schedule and register patients.
• Maintain patient files.
• Evaluate, prepare, position and observe patients with a high degree of professional ethics, care, courtesy, patience and safety.
• Comply with all Carilion Clinic and Imaging policies, procedures and regulatory guidelines.
• Train students and staff as assigned.
• Interpret information needed to identify patient’s requirements relative to specific needs and provide care per applicable policy and procedures.
• Interact with patients, families, visitors and all members of the healthcare team to develop, coordinate and manage the plan of care.
• Work with physicians, other healthcare providers and patients.
• May provide care at other Carilion facilities to meet patient needs.

Qualifications

• Education: High school graduate or GED. Graduate of an approved school of Radiologic Technology or related imaging technology.
• Experience: None specified; experience in IR and CT strongly preferred.
• Licensure/Certification:
  • ARRRT registry, registry eligible.
  • If not registered in CT, must become CT registered within one year of hire date.
  • AHA BLS‑HCP required; may be required to obtain/maintain BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP based on specific work unit.
• Interpersonal, technical skills and flexibility in assignments.
• Must function independently and possess good computer and communication skills.
