Job summary

Candor is seeking a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) in Mesquite, TX to empower students with visual impairments and support equitable access to education. You will foster independence, support IEPs, and collaborate with ARD teams to ensure high-quality instruction and progress.

Requirements include a Bachelor's in Special Education or related field with Texas EC-12 Visual Impairment certification; ACVREP Orientation and Mobility certification preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field is required.
• Texas Educator Certification in Visual Impairment (EC-12) required.
• ACVREP Orientation and Mobility Certification preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of IDEA and ARD process; CPR preferred.
• Bilingual skills preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Develop IEPs/IFSPs in collaboration with ARD committees.
• Deliver instruction in Braille literacy and assistive technology.
• Monitor progress with data collection & analysis.
• Collaborate with general and related services staff and families.
• Promote accessibility and foster independence for students.
• Support transition goals to post-secondary settings.
