Job summary

Candor invites a devoted Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to empower students with vision impairments and support equitable access to education. You will foster independence, collaboration, and success across ARD meetings and classrooms.

Requirements include a Bachelor's in Special Education or related field, TEA EC-12 Visual Impairment certification, and knowledge of IDEA/ARD processes. Master’s and ACVREP mobility creds are a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Vision Rehabilitation, or related field required.
• Master’s degree in Education of Students with Visual Impairments preferred.
• Texas EC-12 Visual Impairment certification issued by TEA required.
• ACVREP Orientation and Mobility certification preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of IDEA and ARD process; CPR certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop Individualized Plans with ARD committees (IEPs/IFSPs).
• Deliver instruction in Braille literacy and assistive technology.
• Monitor progress, collect data, and adjust instructional strategies.
• Collaborate with general ed teachers, related service providers, families.
• Advocate for accommodations and accessible curriculum.
• Prepare students for post-secondary education and independent living.
• Develop safety and independence plans including mobility skills where applicable.
