Job summary

Qualifications

• Education requirements include a Bachelor's in Special Education or Vision Rehabilitation; a Master’s is preferred.
• Certification in Visual Impairment (EC-12) by TEA is required; ACVREP mobility cert preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of IDEA and ARD processes; CPR certification preferred.
• Bilingual skills are preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Develop IEPs and IFSPs with ARD committees to address student needs.
• Deliver instruction including Braille literacy, assistive tech, daily living and adaptive skills.
• Collect, analyze, and document progress data to adjust instruction.
• Collaborate with general educators, mobility specialists, related services and families; attend ARD meetings.
• Advocate for accommodations and accessible curriculum; support transition to post-secondary paths.
• Promote safety and independence through orientation and mobility as applicable.
