Job summary

Weber State University is seeking a Tutor for the Writing Center in Layton, Utah, to assist students with their writing skills. The role involves tutoring WSU students on an individual appointment and drop-in basis, with a flexible schedule between 7 to 20 hours a week.

Job Summary

Tutor WSU students in writing skills and provide support for student writing needs at the Davis Learning Center as part of the Learning Support department. Tutoring is done on an individual appointment and/or drop‑in basis. Availability for appointments is determined by the tutor. Training in tutoring techniques is required and provided.

Required Qualifications

• WSU student in good academic standing.
• Faculty recommendation or endorsement.
• Strong writing proficiency.
• Writing sample (see notes to applicant).
• Working knowledge of, or interest in, learning key writing concepts.
• Good listening, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Willingness to contribute beyond basic tutoring requirements.
• Completed ENGL 1010 & 2010 or equivalent.
• GPA 3.0 or higher.

Compensation & Schedule

Hourly Pay Rate: $14.50. Hours per week: 7–20. Location: Weber State Davis – Layton, UT.
