Wichita State University invites applications for a part-time TRIO STEM Student Support Services Tutor on the Wichita, KS campus. The tutor provides high‑quality academic support to undergraduate participants in the federally funded program.

You will help students understand concepts, develop study strategies, and build confidence in their academic abilities, delivering tutoring individually or in small groups.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent and enrollment in at least 6 credit hours at Wichita State University.
• Maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA; a B or better in tutored courses.
• Prior tutoring, teaching, mentoring, or peer-education experience preferred.

Responsabilités

• Provide individual and small group tutoring in assigned subject areas.
• Help students understand key concepts, work through problems, and develop effective study and problem solving strategies.
• Adapt tutoring approaches to meet the needs of STEM and health professions students.

Job Story

Tutors assist students in strengthening theirunderstanding of course content, developing effective learningstrategies, and building confidence in their academicabilities.

Job Summary

A student assistant will carry out administrative and technicaltasks requested by a supervisor. Depending on the area the studentassistant is employed in, they may assist and mentor other studentsor provide support throughout the campus in various forms.

Job Duties

• Provide individual and small group tutoring in assigned subjectareas.
• Help students understand key concepts, work through problems, anddevelop effective study and problem solving strategies.
• Adapt tutoring approaches to meet the needs of STEM and healthprofessions students.

Required Education

High School diploma or equivalent. Enrolled in a minimum of 6credit hours at Wichita State University.

Additional Requirements

Education: Minimum Sophomore standing; maintain a minimum GPA of3.0; has achieved a grade of “B” or better in tutored courses.

Required Experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior tutoring, teaching, mentoring, or peer‑educationexperience.
• Experience supporting first‑generation, low‑income, or studentswith disabilities.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to remain in a stationary position.
• Ability to operate acomputer and other office equipment including but not limited tophone, printers, copiers, and calculators.
• Ability to communicatewith others and accurately exchange information.
