Job summary

Covanta is seeking a Senior Turbine Reliability Specialist to lead outage planning and reliability improvements for steam turbine generators across the system. You will develop, implement, and refine inspection methods, coordinate resources, and report findings to management.

Reporting to the Turbine Field Services Manager, you will provide technical guidance during major outages, ensure QA/QC during disassembly/reassembly, and drive best practices to sustain long‑term reliability of turbine

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred; candidates without a 4‑year degree may be considered with equivalent experience in Turbine Generator operation, inspection, maintenance, or project management.
• Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in Steam Turbine Generator major overhauls, turbine operation, shop repair methodology, and field supervision of millwrights and machinists.
• For candidates without a 4‑year degree, a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute Turbine Generator major and minor outage plans in partnership with facilities, ensuring adequate and qualified inspection resources are available for each outage and performing pre‑outage planning risk reviews.
• Ensure proper QA/QC during Turbine Generator outage disassembly and reassembly through inspection practices and developed hold points.
• Complete Turbine Generator Condition Assessment Reports and Executive Summaries for each outage, clearly communicating priorities, risk assessments, and recommendations to regional and senior management.
• Communicate required resources, parts, and shop requirements to the TFS Manager and Product Sourcing Manager, ensuring bid specifications are developed in a timely manner to support company procurement initiatives.
• Review all major Turbine Generator replacement scopes and component design modifications with the TFS Manager and Senior Director of Maintenance. Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to ensure parts and products are delivered on time and meet Reworld quality control standards.
• Provide technical guidance and advice to facility management for unscheduled Turbine Generator repairs and issues.
• Provide shop inspection coverage during major outages.
• Provide technical review of Turbine Generator Technical Standards and periodically review and assess facility compliance.
