Job summary

Schnabel Engineering is seeking a temporary full-time Civil Engineering Intern in Honolulu, Hawaii to support our geotechnical and geostructural projects. You will gain hands-on experience applying professional principles under the supervision of senior staff, with an emphasis on practical knowledge and real-world problem solving.

The internship runs May through August 2027 and requires enrollment in an ABET-accredited Civil Engineering bachelor’s program, plus strong communication, teamwork,

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Civil Engineering bachelor’s enrollment required.
• Good oral and written communication skills and computer literacy.
• Ability to work with direction as part of a team.
• Willingness to perform a variety of tasks including office and field work.
• Desire and willingness to work outdoors.
• Ability to routinely lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Apply professional principles, complex numerical models, and innovative solutions to real-world problems as part of a team of engineers and scientists while under the supervision of senior engineering personnel.
• Assist in the preparation of CAD drawings for contract documents and reports with input and guidance from senior engineers in accordance with internal drafting procedures and guidelines.
• Perform structural and geotechnical design calculations for tunnels and underground structures including tunnels, shafts, excavation support, and other underground facilities.
