Job summary

POWDR / Mt. Bachelor is seeking a Tune and Repair Shop Lead to head our tuning and repair team. You will deliver high-quality tuning, perform binding mounting, and ensure safe, efficient service in a guest-focused environment.

Ideal candidates have modern tuning techniques knowledge, experience with bindings, and a commitment to training staff and upholding safety standards in collaboration with Rentals leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and train Tune and Repair Shop employees on tuning operations, safety, and maintenance.

  • Provide technical expertise and guest support to multiple departments including Patrol and Ski & Ride School.
  • Ensure proper ski binding mounts and adjustments in accordance with ASTM standards and required documentation.
  • Manage daily workload and ensure timely completion of tuning services and quality control.

Position Summary

The Mt. Bachelor Tune and Repair Shop Lead, under the guidance of the Rentals Manager, is responsible for leading a team that delivers exceptional ski and snowboard tuning and repair services in a safe and efficient environment. This includes providing high-quality tunes, maintaining efficient service turnaround times, and completing binding mounts, adjustments, and required documentation in accordance with ASTM guidelines, all while ensuring an outstanding guest experience.

The Tune and Repair Shop Lead must possess modern knowledge of ski and snowboard tuning techniques, understand the evolution of equipment technology, and be proficient with both manual tuning tools and shop machinery, including the safe operation of all power equipment. Experience mounting skis and servicing snowboard bindings is required.

A core responsibility of this role is training and developing Tune and Repair Shop employees across all aspects of shop operations, including tuning services, repairs, equipment maintenance, machine upkeep, and safety procedures. In collaboration with the Rentals Manager, the Lead is responsible for establishing and reinforcing a strong safety culture, ensuring proper PPE use and safe handling of machines, chemicals, hand tools, and power tools are prioritized by all team members.

This role operates in partnership with and under the oversight of the Rentals Manager and Supervisors, working closely with rental operations leadership to align on priorities, staffing, and service standards. The Tune and Repair Shop Lead is responsible for ensuring guests, employees, and rentals, including demo equipment, receive regular tuning and maintenance, and may assist with broader rental operations as business needs require.

Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a collaborative approach across departments are essential. The role involves extended periods of standing, bending, pushing, and reaching in an indoor environment.

Essential Duties & Major Responsibilities
  • Lead and train Tune and Repair Shop employees on all aspects of tuning operations, including machine operation, safety procedures, cleaning, maintenance, and achieving high-quality results.
  • Maintain advanced ski and snowboard repair skills including, but not limited to:
  • base repairs, edge repairs, delamination repair, base flattening, base structuring, edge tuning, waxing, binding repair, binding testing, and binding installation.
  • Provide ongoing training of Tune and Repair Shop employees on tuning techniques, repair services, product knowledge, and shop procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and efficient shop environment, organizing the Tune and Repair workspace to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of tuning services.
  • Provide technical expertise and support to guests, employees, and key mountain departments including Patrol and Ski & Ride School.
  • Perform and oversee proper ski binding mounts and adjustments in accordance with ASTM standards, including required documentation and liability procedures.
  • Intake guest equipment, evaluate service needs, recommend appropriate services, and document work based on equipment condition, guest ability level, and mountain conditions.
  • Manage daily workload and ensure the Tune and Repair Shop team maintains organized workflows and service prioritization.
  • Ensure quality control on all services performed within the Tune and Repair Shop.
  • Calculate and apply appropriate labor charges for additional repair services.
  • Facilitate an informative equipment return process by explaining services performed and proper equipment function to guests.
  • Perform regular rental fleet inspections and complete maintenance services as requested by the Rental Manage
