Job description

Schedule: 5 days/week, typically 4:30PM-11PM during winter (daytime hours required early and late season)
Status: Full-Time, Seasonal
Pay: Start pay is $18, until trained and manager checks off that employee can run machine independently. Then, TBD based on experience

We're looking for a hands-on Tune Manager to oversee our evening ski tuning operations and ensure every ski that leaves our shop is safe, dialed, and ready to perform. This full-time role is responsible for supervising the tuning crew, maintaining high-quality standards, and being the go-to person for anything related to tuning liability or equipment concerns. The Tune Manager plays a key role in supporting our demo program and must be able to switch into daytime hours at the beginning and end of the season to help prep skis shipped to us and test/tune rollover skis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership & Supervision
    • Manage the evening tuning crew and daily workflow
    • Ensure skis are tuned to Powder House quality standards
    • Delegate tasks, train new techs, and monitor efficiency during high-volume nights
  • Liability Oversight
    • Serve as the point person for all tuning- and binding-related liability concerns
    • Supervise techs performing work on skis and bindings to ensure safety protocols are followed
    • Step in when advanced technical issues or liability questions arise
  • Ski Tuning
    • Perform high-level ski tuning including edge sharpening, base repair, structure grinding, waxing, and binding checks
    • Maintain and troubleshoot tuning machinery
    • Help with specialty tuning requests and more advanced repairs
  • Pre/Post-Season Work (Daytime Hours)
    • Start in October to help receive and prep demo skis arriving from vendors
    • Tune, test, and organize fleet skis before season opensIn spring, assist with testing and tuning rollover/demo skis before they are stored or shipped out
  • Inventory & Equipment Maintenance
    • Monitor tuning supplies and equipment status; report service needs to management
    • Keep workspace clean, organized, and running smoothly
Qualifications
  • Previous experience in ski tuning, including machine operation and advanced repair
  • Comfortable managing others and delegating in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong understanding of tuning theory, base structure, and edge work
  • Familiarity with binding safety standards and liability protocol
  • Able to work nights consistently through the season, and switch to daytime hours early/late season
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to lift skis, stand for extended periods, and stay calm under pressure
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
