Job summary

GDIT in Herndon, VA seeks a Network Engineer with TS/SCI clearance to design, implement, and secure complex IT infrastructure. You will define security posture, perform audits, and manage LAN/WAN devices including firewalls, routers, and switches. The role requires collaboration with admins and developers to resolve intricate network issues.

You will document builds, plan implementations, and support voice/video/data networks, ensuring robust, scalable solutions across projects.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph required.
• Bachelor’s or Technology degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent 9 years of experience.
• 5+ years of related Network Engineering experience.
• 3+ years configuring Cisco ASA/NGFW.
• 4+ years configuring LAN/WAN devices with routing concepts (EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, IP/MPLS).
• Experience allowing voice/video across port-based firewall and NGFW.
• Experience deploying Cisco, Palo Alto, or Juniper firewall Manager servers.
• Experience in engineering and deploying multi-firewall solutions.
• Experience designing/deploying controlled interfaces (5+ years).
• Experience designing, engineering, and deploying firewall transition plans.
• Experience deploying firewall in multicast network environments.
• IPSec site-to-site VPN with PKI; remote access VPN.
• Basic understanding of QoS concepts.
• Experience with network monitoring technologies.
• Ability to translate ambiguous requirements into technical solutions.
• Ability to collaborate with systems/storage/application developers to solve complex problems.
• Strong problem management and organizational skills.
• Location: Herndon, VA.

Responsibilities

• Define, maintain, and upgrade the overall security posture of networks.
• Perform security audits of events and health, implement changes to improve security posture.
• Manage and allocate network installation and engineering tasks; configure and maintain communications systems.
• Document build-to and as-built configurations, and create implementation and test plans for IT equipment.
• Engage in technical system planning beyond the network to include applications and systems using the network.
• Provide expert analysis of voice, video, and data networks, including planning and upgrading OS and protocol suites.
• Plan network layouts and configure systems to user environments.
• Provide Tier I–III technical support and troubleshooting.
