Job summary

Themis Insight, in the Fort Meade, MD vicinity, seeks a Technical Writer to document software and system engineering life cycles, from installation to end-user guides. You will craft detailed, clear manuals, and collaborate with engineers to translate complex subjects into accessible materials for diverse audiences.

Defining and maintaining the documentation library, utilizing Confluence and Jira, and delivering high-quality publications across programs of similar complexity are expected in this

Qualifications

• Six (6) years experience as a TW in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university.
• Four (4) years of additional TW experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
• Experience creating how-to guides, SOPs, and technical documentation.
• Strong Confluence skills.
• Familiarity with Jira.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, revision, and maintenance of technical documents including software and systems engineering, system operations, testing, and user documentation.
• Write and edit technical documentation for all project hardware and software, including installation, configuration and how-to documentation.
• Create code documentation for software; produce implementation guides and end-user guides for capabilities.
• Provide field, data definition, and data flow documentation and formats technical publications from pamphlets and consultations with technical personnel.
• Assist in preparing and maintaining operations documentation, user guides and manuals and technical publications.
• Gather technical information and prepare written text; maintain a current internal documentation library.
• Work with developers to produce quality documentation and training materials; coordinate layout and design of documents.
• Research highly technical subject matter and express technical information in a way comprehensible to a wide audience.
