Job summary

Johnson Controls invites motivated individuals to join our growing team as an HVAC apprentice. You will learn on HVAC mechanical equipment and controls at client sites, supported by the Service Technical Academy (STA) for skill-building and advancement.

Eligible candidates must pursue Union membership and carry a valid driver’s license. A structured program emphasizes safety, mentorship, and hands-on problem solving in real-world building environments.

Qualifications

• Must be a member or willing to join UA JAC of the Plumbing & Pipe Fitting Industry, AFL-CIO.
• 1+ year experience in HVAC or servicing mechanical systems.
• Good interpersonal and professional representation of Johnson Controls.

Responsibilities

• Apprentices train and perform on HVAC equipment and controls at client sites.
• Participate in STA training to build skills and advancement opportunities.
• Troubleshoot technical issues and assist customers as needed.
• Keep client, contractor, and Johnson Controls informed on progress and issues.
• Attend required Union training in year one.
• Provide recommendations to improve facility efficiency and upsell where appropriate.
• Prepare and present quotes to support recommendations.
