Job summary

Genesis Marine is seeking a Trip Pilot to ensure the safe and efficient operation of our vessel and tow on Gulf Coast routes. You will lead navigation, piloting, and crew oversight to meet regulatory requirements while protecting the environment and cargo.

You must hold a U.S. Merchant Mariner's document, STCW, USCG license appropriate to the vessel, and a FCC Radio Permit; English fluency is required, Spanish preferred, and TWIC is expected.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, render, understand, and react to commands in English.
• Ability to read and write in Spanish is preferred.
• Valid driver's license and TWIC card.
• Must possess a U.S. Merchant Mariner's document and a STCW training and certification booklet, as required by law.
• Must possess the proper license by the U.S.C.G. for the vessel type, tonnage, route and service.
• Must possess a FCC Marine Radio Operators Permit.

Responsibilities

• Safe piloting, navigation and maintenance of the vessel in compliance with the applicable laws and regulations of the vessel's flag state, the international community, and the vessel's locality in a manner responsible to the safety of the crew and the protection of the natural environment.
• Operational management of the vessel as directed by the Master/Relief Master, including service delivery, bridge management, human resource management, and cost management in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Company.
• Set and stand bridge and helm watches in rotation with other deck officers in the vessel crew.
• Direct and supervise the deck crew in the execution of their duties as articulated on their own job descriptions, and as otherwise deemed necessary for the safe and efficient operation of the vessel.
• Maintain courteous and professional relationships with Company charterers and charterer representatives without subordinating the safety and commercial goals of the Company to those of its customers.
• Complete appropriate bridge management and human resource administrative tasks.
