Job summary

Genesis Marine, a Genesis Energy, L.P. company, seeks a Mate responsible for safe and efficient vessel operations and tow handling. You will oversee navigation, piloting, bridge administration, and crew supervision to ensure safety, cargo protection, and regulatory compliance across our Gulf Coast and inland routes.

The role requires U.S. Mariner credentials, STCW training, and an appropriate U.S.C.G. license for the vessel, with English language proficiency; Spanish is a plus.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, render, understand, and react to commands given in English; Spanish preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and TWIC card.
• Must possess a U.S. Merchant Mariner’s document and a STCW training and certification booklet, as required by law.
• Must possess the proper U.S.C.G. license for the vessel type, tonnage, route and service.
• Must possess an FCC Marine Radio Operators Permit.

Responsibilities

• Safe piloting, navigation and maintenance of the vessel in compliance with laws and regulations.
• Operational management of the vessel as directed by the Master/Relief Master, including service delivery and cost management.
• Set and stand bridge and helm watches in rotation with other deck officers.
• Direct and supervise the deck crew in the execution of their duties.
• Maintain courteous and professional relationships with charterers while balancing safety and commercial goals.
• Complete bridge management and HR administrative tasks.
