Job summary

SSS Classic at Passaic County Community College in Paterson, NJ is seeking a part-time Science Tutor/Mentor to support students in Physical Sciences (Chemistry, Physics). This role offers flexible hours for PCCC students or qualified external candidates with a bachelor’s degree who want to impact students’ academic journeys.

The position is part-time and hourly, with compensation based on experience and academic degree attainment. Background checks are required for selected candidates.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree required.
• A or B+ in relevant subjects.
• GPA 3.25 or higher.
• Tutoring experience preferred.
• Comfort working with diverse backgrounds.

• Professionalism, creativity, enthusiasm, and encouragement of student success.

• Uphold program policies and procedures at all times
• Follow the guidance of the Assistant Director to assist in carrying out the program’s policies and procedures
• Reinforce material students covered in the classroom

Qualifications

The completion of a background check will be required for the selected candidate.

Compensation:

Compensation is determined by a variety of criteria, including but not limited to, previous relevant experience, education level, and certifications. The hourly pay range for this position is $17-$18, depending upon highest educational degree obtained.

• New Jersey Sick Leave: Earn 1 hour of sick leave for every 30 hours worked with a maximum of 40 hours of leave per benefit year. (Eligible to use after successful completion of probationary period.)
