Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; 6 months–1 year of relevant work experience is desired.
• Familiarity with the Northwest Arctic Borough Region, its culture, people, and ability to speak Inupiaq desirable.
• Ability to read, understand and apply the Maniilaq TANF Manual and TANF policy/regulations.
• Prior experience using the listed computer software: TAS, Alaska mainframe, Child support Mainframe, and SAM Unemployment.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and maintains case files in TAS software and paper files.
• Issues payments, reports and notices in TAS by deadlines.
• Tracks and monitors all client cases to ensure compliance with federal work activity and state requirements.
• Meets work participation rates for TANF and recommends sanctions or adverse actions when needed.
• Coordinates and creates monthly work participation activities for TANF recipients.
• Documents outcomes, follow-up, and case notes in TANF guidelines.
• Maintains positive relationships with clients to provide support and guidance.
• Provides direct and ongoing case management services to promote self-sufficiency.
• Develops Family Self-Sufficiency Plans with clients to set achievable goals.
• Initiates frequent contact with TANF recipients via phone, in-person, and home visits.
• Collaborates with team to promote TANF program publicly.
• Shares regional caseload and understands role within division.
• Establishes priorities and manages time effectively.
