Job summary

Maniilaq Association in Kotzebue, Alaska is seeking Relief Employment & Training Caseworkers I–III to determine eligibility and provide direct client services to eligible applicants. This role includes continuous case management and assisting clients with applications for all available services.

This position will manage support services to promote self-sufficiency, educational opportunities, and employment readiness while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; 6 months–1 year of related experience preferred.
• Familiarity with the Northwest Arctic Borough region, culture and people.
• Ability to read, understand and apply the Maniilaq Workforce Development Plan and related policies.
• Proficiency with basic office equipment; intermediate MS Office skills preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with service-area stakeholders and state agencies.

Responsibilities

• Process 477 applications as assigned to promote self-sufficiency and refer to appropriate programs.
• Audit caseload quarterly to ensure follow-ups, enrollments, and notices are complete and compliant.
• Refer participants to activities per their ISP.
• Provide ongoing case management to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Review and document payments for assigned cases.
• Maintain records and budgets for all financial transactions for audits.
• Understand differences between 477 and Maniilaq components to ensure funding compliance.
• Organize job fairs, school orientations, workshops and events to promote 477 programs.
• Plan and enroll participants in training opportunities to meet grant requirements.
