Job summary

The Pascua Yaqui Tribe seeks a Student Advisor to provide educational information, referrals, and advocacy for tribal member students in local schools. You will collaborate with district staff, parents, and students to promote school completion and success.

Responsibilities include identifying at-risk students, coordinating with teachers, maintaining student records, and assisting with IEP development in partnership with school personnel. Evening and weekend hours may be required.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in Education or equivalent, plus 3 years of experience working with youth in an educational setting.
• Bachelor's Degree in Education preferred.
• Experience working in the Yaqui community and Yaqui youth preferred.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona driver's license.
• Must obtain Level 1 Arizona Clearance Card within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Identify at-risk students and collaborate with staff to address educational issues.
• Counsel students regarding school and attendance.
• Maintain progress files and provide reports for program evaluation.
• Make home visits to investigate attendance problems.
• Refer students to counseling, tutoring, and other programs to support academic progress.
• Develop and monitor an Individual Education Plan (IEP) in collaboration with school personnel.
