The position requires a Bachelor’s in Accounting, 5+ years of related experience (not-for-profit/governmental preferred), and travel up to 15%. Proficiency in MS Office and government accounting software is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of related experience, not-for-profit and/or governmental experience.
• Experience in grants management, financial accounting including account reconciliation, governmental accounting standards implementation, and/or accounts payable processing.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to travel as needed, approximately 10–15%.

Responsibilities

• Performs operational, accounting, and consulting services for Tribal governments, including monthly closing, grants management, grant reporting, and financial reporting to key decision makers.
• Prepares polished deliverables for clients; ensures timely client deliverables.
• Develops policies and procedures on key accounting matters.
• Collaborates with clients to understand current business practices, identify opportunities for improvement, and help update policies and procedures.
• Performs project start up activities, follows project work plans, adheres to schedules, and attends kickoff meetings.
• Coordinates with clients during the audit process and helps prepare for audits.
• Contributes to growing the practice.
• Reviews the work of self and team for accuracy.
• Serves as an integral member of Business Consulting Services team.
• Occasionally travels to client locations, firm trainings, or industry conferences.
