Job summary

Baker Tilly Advisory Group, LP is seeking a Manager to provide accounting and consulting services to Tribal governments. The role includes monthly closing, grants management, and financial reporting to support decision makers.

You will develop policies, assist with process improvements, and work with clients to ensure accurate, timely deliverables. Occasional travel to client sites and trainings is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field (preferred).
• Minimum of 5 years of related experience, not-for-profit and/or governmental.
• Experience in grants management, financial accounting including account reconciliation, governmental accounting standards implementation, and/or accounts payable processing.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with commitment to client service via multiple channels.
• Ability to understand problems, think critically and provide creative solutions.
• Proven time management and organizational skills, ability to prioritize while handling multiple projects.
• Works independently and is self-directed with strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to collaborate across functions and teams while building trusted relationships.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and government accounting/grant management software systems.
• Ability to travel approximately 10-15%.

Responsibilities

• Performs operational, accounting, and consulting services for Tribal governments, including monthly close, grants management, grant reporting, and financial reporting to key decision makers.
• Prepares polished deliverables for clients; ensures timely client deliverables.
• Develops policies and procedures on key accounting matters.
• Collaborates with clients to understand current business practices, identify improvement opportunities, and assist in updating policies and procedures.
• Performs project startup activities, follows project work plans, adheres to schedules, and attends kickoff meetings.
• Coordinates with clients during the audit process, assisting in audit preparation.
• Assists with helping grow the practice.
• Reviews the work of self and team for accuracy.
• Serves as an integral member of our Business Consulting Services team.
• Occasionally travels to client locations, firm trainings, or industry conferences.
