Job summary

Terracon seeks a Professional Engineer to lead underground utility and trenchless infrastructure projects across the Midwest. You will provide engineering and consulting services from planning through construction, guiding teams and shaping project success.

This role blends technical leadership with field involvement, requiring strong analytical skills, clear communication, and mentoring of junior staff. You’ll collaborate with project managers on proposals, cost estimates, and schedules.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or Geological Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• Active Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Experience with trenchless and subsurface infrastructure projects.
• Strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to travel periodically.

Responsibilities

• Lead medium to large, complex projects and mentor staff.
• Plan field investigations and laboratory testing programs.
• Develop trenchless design and construction recommendations.
• Prepare technical reports, drawings and specifications.
• Collaborate with project managers on proposals, cost tracking and scheduling.
• Communicate engineering concepts to stakeholders.
