Job summary

Terracon is seeking a Professional Engineer to lead underground and subsurface infrastructure projects across the Midwest. You’ll provide engineering and consulting services from planning through construction while mentoring engineers and coordinating with project teams.

This role blends technical expertise, leadership, and field involvement with the flexibility to be based out of multiple Midwest offices, contributing to safe, high-quality outcomes for communities and critical utilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or Geological Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• Active Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Experience and/or education in trenchless and subsurface infrastructure.
• Strong analytical, detail-oriented, and accurate work.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with engineering software; CAD/Microstation desirable.
• Valid driver’s license and travel willingness.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor engineers on medium to large projects.
• Plan and oversee field investigations and lab testing.
• Perform trenchless engineering analyses and calculations.
• Develop trenchless design and construction recommendations.
• Prepare and review technical reports, drawings, and specifications.
• Serve as technical resource during construction.
• Collaborate with project managers on proposals, cost estimating, and project tracking.
