Job summary

Lewis Tree Service is hiring a Trimmer Trainee to join our outdoor vegetation management teams. You will assist with tree trimming around power lines, support crews at multiple worksites, and help with equipment setup, safety, and cleanup.

Expect rigorous training, safety briefings, and opportunities to advance as you gain climbing and herbicide-certification experience. We require basic tree knowledge, a valid CDL, and CPR/First Aid certification.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months of experience on tree crews as Groundperson or Driver.
• Willingness to work at heights and learn climbing/aerial lift techniques.
• Understanding of basic tree identification and vegetation management.
• Podador Aprendiz technical knowledge and skills certification (or ability to complete).
• Valid driver’s license, CDL, and medical certification as required.
• CPR and First Aid certified (provided by Lewis).
• Acquire and keep training/licenses for safe use of herbicides.
• Strong work ethic and team mindset; commit to safe learning.
• Ensure compliance with applicable regulations.

Responsibilities

• Assist with ground-level vegetation management around power lines.
• Prune, remove branches and lift logs while climbing or aerial lift under supervision.
• Support crews with site prep, equipment setup and clean-up.
• Operate and maintain tools like chainsaws, chippers, sprayers, ropes.
• Assist with rigging and felling of trees.
• Apply herbicides with proper certification.
• Load/unload trucks and hike through challenging terrain carrying gear.
• Help with traffic control and public safety at the jobsite.
• Participate in daily job briefings and safety meetings.
